The Kelvin Grove Urban Village is well on its way to becoming a reality, with full development expected by 2010.
The Village includes:
- around 1,000 residential units (more than 400 either already completed or available for sale off the plan).
- a Woolworths supermarket and other food outlets including a bakery, butcher and delicatessen.
- cafes, bars, restaurants and specialty shops.
- the Roundhouse Theatre, home of La Boite Theatre Company.
- QUT’s Creative Industries precinct.
- Education Queensland’s Creative Industries Academy.
- QUT’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation.
- QUT’s Centre for Physical Activity and Clinical Education, which will house university health clinics, a pool, gym and sports courts, all accessible to the public.
- parks, paths and bikeways.
- commercial space for small, medium and some large-size businesses.
The area surrounding the Kelvin Grove Urban Village is well serviced by schools, including the
Kelvin Grove State College. The College includes a junior school to year five, a middle school from year six to nine and a senior school from years 10 to 12. The school has strong links with QUT, and has the largest performing and visual arts departments in Queensland.
The Roma Street Parkland and Victoria Park Golf Course are right on the doorstep of the Village.
